    The first time I ever heard a Tom Waits song, i broke down sobbing, embarassing for a first date. He is the only artist that can elicit such a varied emotional response, but no matter what song, there is always a PROFOUND emotional response. There is no one more gifted, lyrically or musically, and no one who has transcended the ages like Tommy the Cat.
